I cannot sow
all the things I am
and watch them grow
as wild things can
and under sun
rays over rain
fallow, matted
sown under strain
the power of life
is placed in hand
the blade of the knife
is drawn cross the land
shaping the furrow
flower and wood
in boot-prints grow
tomorrow’s good.
